Heat water until slightly warm. This will help dissolve the sugar and salt.
Pour warm water into a container that you will brine the chicken in. Add all other ingredients to water and stir, allowing salt and sugar to dissolve.
Allow to come to room temperature.
Place chicken in brine and refrigerate overnight for whole chicken, 2 hours for chicken breasts, and 4 hours for any pieces with bones.
Drain before cooking and dry with a paper towel. Enjoy!
